One look at the AVANZA’s innovative styling conveys a sense of quality with remarkable energy and stability. But the most enduring impression – a product of its highly efficient packaging – is of the emergence of a new category of versatile MPV

Toyota Avanza 2010 is launched in Auto expo 2010 in India. The Toyota Avanza (Daihatsu Xenia build on the same platform ) is a mini MPV designed and produced in Indonesia and also assembled in Malaysia, with supervision from Toyota, who also sells the car under their Daihatsu brand. The car was launched at the Gaikindo Auto Expo in 2003 and sold over 100,000 units that year. The name “Avanza” was taken from the Italian word avanzato, which means “advance”.

The Avanza will feature a 1.5 L 16 valve CRDi engine with an expected power output of 101 Bhp.Not bad when we consider that the max power offered by Innova is almost similar with a 2.5 L engine. One major difference is that this engine will be a petrol engine.Toyota is also planning for some advanced safety and convenience features in the Avanza. All this may be revealed in the coming Auto Expo 2010 to be conducted from January 5th to 11th in New Delhi.Toyota are also planning to launch a host of other vehicles in the expo

The Avanza is a new model developed as a low premier MPV to split the Toyota Kijang to two different models; the other being the Toyota Innova, which is of higher-spec and aimed at a higher market.

In addition to Indonesia and Malaysia, the Avanza is sold in Brunei, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Thailand, Philippines, South Africa, Mexico (the only North American country to sell it, although the unrelated and similar Scion xB is sold in the United States and Canada) and China.

The actual colors of the vehicle may vary from the colors shown.
